🚢 DREAMERS CRUISE: FIVE WEEK COUNTDOWNCan you believe it - we're five weeks away! Here are some things to make sure you check off your list.TRAVEL DOCUMENTS:
You need either (option A) a passport with an expiration date LATER than August 14th, 2026 OR (option B) your drivers license AND a certified (stamped or embossed) birth certificate. Note: for option B - if your last name doesn't match for some reason (adoption, marriage), you will also need to provide official documents showing the name changes (adoption papers, marriage license, divorce papers, whatever).TRAVEL INSURANCEThis always feels like a waste ... until it's not. I have a claim right now for cancelled and delayed flights from a previous trip. Visit GetMyTravelInsurance.com. There are three options available (only two are obviously visible). The main differences between the three ... MEDICAL COVERAGES and MEDICAL EVACUATION. Here's a chart to help you compare the Advantage and Ultimate Plans. These include cancellation coverage for covered reasons (sickness, death in family, etc). The most affordable plan is called TravelMedGo - and only offers medical coverage while on the trip - as well as a little bit of trip interruption. If you don't worry about pre-existing conditions or cancellation, this is a good safety net. Let me know if I can help you with any of these.
EXCURSIONS:I haven't heard yet what group excursions (if any) are being planned. Katrina Bolen, and Kyle Saylors are putting those details together. However, we are at the peak of whale watching season and you might want to get booked with one of those if that's on your bucket list. You can book excursions through Carnival, but in my opinion, Shore Excursions Group is often cheaper, always a smaller group and just as guaranteed to get you back to the ship.
DINNER WITH DREAMERS THE NIGHT BEFOREKyle is still making those plans. I'm sure he'll let folks know once the details are firmed up - but there will be transportation required (uber or whatever) as there are no venues near LAX suitable for that.HOTEL NIGHT BEFORE:I highly suggest going with our preferred hotel - Sheraton Gateway LAX. Other smart options include: Embassy Suites by Hilton LAX, Hyatt Place Century Blvd (LAX), Homewood Suites by Hilton LAX, Courtyard by Marriott Century Blvd LAX, or Hyatt Regency Los Angeles (LAX) ... why go with Sheraton or these? Because I'm going to be pre-arranging transfers to the port if you desire. Only these hotels will be eligible for pick up. Note: The deadline for our group rate with the Sheraton has passed but you can still book there.(KEEP SCROLLING PAST THIS HUGE OBNOXIOUS IMAGE)

CRUISE CHECK-IN OPENS SUNDAY JAN 25th at 12:01 AMThis is very important. It determines how soon you get on board and asks you to upload a selfie for facial recognition when boarding. It also asks you to upload your travel documents. Make sure you download the Carnival App and sign up/in with the same email you booked with and enter your booking number. You can start online check-in for a Carnival cruise exactly 14 days (or 336 hours) before your sail date, at midnight Eastern Time (ET), to select your port arrival time; priority access (16 days out) is given to Diamond/Platinum loyalty members and Deluxe Suite guests, who should log in right at midnight ET for the best boarding slots.Completing this early secures your preferred boarding slot, though rooms aren't ready until later, allowing time to explore the ship and lunch.
ON BOARD CHECK-INOnce we're on the ship, we'll post up somewhere and make sure you made it on board without trouble and you'll get a few handy tools (keep reading). Details for our rendezvous spot will be forthcoming. Also, once you get on board you'll have to check in with your muster station (don't worry - that will make sense when you get on board). Also, it's a bit of a wait before rooms are ready - so you might want to keep your "carry-on" items at a minimum. Some folks actually board the ship in their swimsuits so they can get right to the fun.DRINK PACKAGES / WI-FI PACKAGESThese are on your own to secure thesse extras. Check the carnival app or website and add them as you wish.Note: Per US law, sales tax applies to any purchases made while in US ports (including drinks in port - even if you have a package). So, while the drink doesn't cost you while waiting for sailaway, the value of the drink sales tax DOES hit your account. It's only a few cents, but just be aware.LUGGAGE TAGS:This isn't super critical, but once you've checked in, look for a link to print off luggage tags. This will generate a paper tag you can print, cut out and place on your luggage when you arrive at the port. You'll check your bag(s) with a port attendant and your bag will arrive at your cabin door later that day. Note: Don't Fly with these already on your suitcase... the flight will wreck them.EVENTS ON BOARDWe are securing three private venues for group meetings. These will be exclusively for dreamers. There will be a private film screening event and a private networking/chat event. There will be a third private event on our second sea day. Details TBD. In addition to that, as previously mentioned, Katrina Bolen (Casting Agent) is planning additional experiences. Once I get those details I'll pass them along here.A HANDY TOOLI will be giving everyone a lanyard and a vinyl pouch for your key card. I will also be passing out NFC key fobs to everyone. These will have the cruise schedule of dreamer's events on them that you can scan with your cell phone any time (even without a wifi plan) ... these also will allow you to upload your personal contact data if you want to be able to share those with friends you make on the cruise. To do this, you'll need to download a free app called NFC TOOLS. It's not sexy looking - pretty basic actually - but it's kinda neat and fun. You'll have your cruise card (door key) and lanyard with you all the time anyway. So adding this keyfob makes sharing info with new friends and figuring out what's happening where - really easy. Click below for links or an explainer video.
LAST THINGSJill (my wife) couldn't join me this time because she got cast as the lead in GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY. So, my travel agent buddy (and college fraternity brother) Brad Ellis is taking her spot. This week, he's an honorary dreamer and my helper to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. Please make Brad welcome. PS: If any of you want to make the trek to Atlanta to see Jill's big show - I'm sure she'd be honored.
I'm excited! You're about to experience a chapter of your life you'll remember for a long time! Connections made on this trip have lead to exciting opportunities and lifelong friendships. LET'S GO!
